About Me

I was told that I look like a drowned rat in this picture. But I don't care. It was taken on day 7 of the Tour de Mont Blanc, my first solo hike. The first 6 days were beautiful and amazing and oh so challenging physically. On this day I was crossing a mountain pass between Italy and Switzerland, the rain turning into snow, I could only see a few meters ahead. and I was happy, so happy.

I hated hiking. School trips, summer camps. I was the fat girl struggling. I couldn't see the point in going up a mountain if all we do is going down on the other side.

But in my 30's, something changed. I've had enough of cities. I wanted to be out. to disconnect. Not surprising, this was parallel to the introduction of the smartphones into every aspect of our lives.

I started small. Week-long hikes with my mother, an experienced hiker herself.

And my appetite grow.

I started hiking by myself. Long distance, with a backpack and a plan.

Planning came easy for me. I'm organised and principled. I'm good at searching and am not afraid of foreign languages. I love learning new things and diving into new topics. And my family hikes and travels. I had the mental support I needed to start. I knew how to start.

And now I help others do the same.
